THE OPERA

Armida
Joseph Haydn

Haydn’s Armida brings to life the enchanting and dangerous world of Torquato Tasso’s epic Jerusalem Delivered. The powerful sorceress Armida seduces the Christian knight Rinaldo, drawing him into a realm of passion, magic, and inner conflict as he abandons his sacred duty for love. Blending dazzling orchestral color with expressive arias and dramatic intensity, Haydn’s rarely performed masterpiece explores the struggle between love and honor in a story of enchantment, betrayal, and redemption.
