Washington Concert Opera mourns the loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Justice Ginsburg’s commitment to upholding truth and justice in our country’s highest court serves as an inspiration for many. She was a tireless advocate in the fight for gender equality and women’s rights and truly a force for good. She lent a powerful voice to the voiceless, and we are forever grateful for her service to our nation.
Justice Ginsburg has also left a lasting impression on the arts world, and specifically Washington Concert Opera. She was a major part of the WCO family, and her knowledge of and love for opera was profound. The memories that Concert Opera staff, board and artists have shared of Ginsburg over the years reveal the extraordinary impact she has also had on performing and creative artists. Washington Concert Opera will forever cherish the time that we’ve been blessed to spend with RBG.
“I will remember the many moments I shared with RBG over the years including enjoying music together, dinners at the Supreme Court, sharing small talk at cocktail parties and most memorably sharing the stage with her in La fille du regiment at Washington National Opera. I will remember her radiant smile, her soft voice and her immeasurable legacy as someone who fought for the rights of so many. RIP, my dear friend.”
