Opera Gems

Washington Concert Opera believes in being “of” the community by engaging with our patrons in meaningful ways. WCO frequently presents Opera Gems: an engaging and enlightening lecture series throughout the season focusing on WCO productions and opera history. Led by WCO co-founder Peter Russell, Opera Gems typically take place in the weeks leading up to each performance. For more information, call (202) 364-5826. 


Pre-Performance Talks

Get the full story by joining other operagoers at our complimentary pre-performance talks in Lisner Auditorium. You will have the opportunity to hear WCO co-founder and opera scholar Peter Russell present highly engaging and informative talks on the performance you are about to see. Talks are free to all ticketholders and scheduled one hour prior to every performance. Reservations are not required.


Young Artists and College Students

WCO is at home in both the opera house and the classroom. Staff members have served as guest clinicians and lecturers at schools and organizations including Goethe-Institut, George Mason University, and with our community partners: Inspired Teaching School, Potomac Vocal Institute, and University of Maryland.
