For the second brunch of 2017-18, The Guild for WCO will host Professor Robert Baker, a pillar of the DC classical music community as a singer and educator.
Robert Baker is Chair of the Department of Music at The George Washington University. A singer who performs with The Metropolitan Opera, The Washington National Opera, The National Symphony and with choral organizations across the country, he focuses on new music and new ways of thinking about and presenting the traditional repertoire. He teaches voice lessons and in the classroom.
A central figure in the DC area classical music scene, Professor Baker has been a featured artist in more than 300 performances of 43 productions with the Washington National Opera including Don Carlo this year. He has also sung ten roles with the Washington Concert Opera.
Professor Baker will share stories from his singing career and his thoughts on opera and classical music today and in the future followed by a Q&A time.
